At SAMARA, we believe that beautiful fashion doesn’t have to come at the cost of the environment. Our goal is to ensure that we’re always relentless in the search for the most sustainable, revolutionary materials. This is where we’re at. Step into our materials library.
apple leather
Made from the waste by-products of the juicing industry, at orchards in Europe. Our goal at SAMARA is to one day be entirely plant-based to ensure that our materials are sustainable and require the least amount of processing. We started experimenting with coconut husks, pineapple leather and although we were able to create material, it didn’t have the premium feel that we were looking for. We found luck with apple leather, and haven’t looked back since.
STEP 1 - GATHER
After the apples are harvested, cleaned and juiced at the orchards, the waste by-products; usually the pulpy fibre is collected.
STEP 2 - DRY
The pulp is dried and dehydrated, and turned into a powder.
STEP 3 - MIX
The powder is mixed with PU to make it durable and to ensure that it will last you a lifetime.
STEP 4- ROLL
The mixture is laid out and flattened, and then rolled out to form the material that you know and love.

recycled ocean plastics
Made from plastics that were once in the ocean. Thanks to this material, this material can now be infinitely recycled and will hopefully never end up in our oceans again. The production of each ocean backpack saves approximately one kilogram of carbon dioxide emissions and two liters of crude oil.
STEP 1- GATHER
Fishermen are paid to go out into the oceans on their boats, and collect plastics from the ocean.
STEP 2 - SHRED
The plastic is cleaned, shredded into small chips, and sent for processing.
STEP 3- PROCESS
The chips are melted and spun into fine yarn.
STEP 4- SPIN
The yarn is spun into fabric, and is fully regenerated to create future products that will ensure that this plastic stays out of our oceans forever.

castor seeds
Castor beans are harvested and dried so that the bean splits. They are then pressed to extract castor seed oil, which serves as a replacement for plastics and is an impressive alternative.
